As part of the new communication and language pathway, Flying Start Children’s Centres have introduced a new initiative called Talking Takes Off for Communication.
This is a six-week programme of fun workshops, which are offered as part of our targeted support for parents and children where early communication and language needs have been identified. Attendance at this group for parents and children is by invitation from a health or early years professional and parents can book directly with their local Flying Start Children’s Centre.
The sessions are built on the PEEP principles and focus on the importance of the home learning environment, working with parents to increase language experiences for their child.
The topics include:
- Talking and Communicating
- Play and Language
- Musical Instruments
- Talking Maths
- Playing and Listening
- Using Puppets
Parents will receive practical ideas and free resources to support activities in the home. Working in partnership with parents the sessions will support the development of key skills ready for when a child starts nursery or school.
If you are a professional who works closely with families with children under five years or children with SEND who may have a communication delay and you would like to have some invitations to share with parents then please contact Christine Rogers on 01582 548335 firstname.lastname@example.org
Please see the Flying Start website for further details and times of the sessions. www.flyingstartluton.com/childrenscentres/services/ttocommlanggroup/
