Summer Fun Sessions
Wow, what a lot of fun Flying Start had in Luton Parks this summer!
Funded by Public Health, Early Years Alliance scheduled sessions throughout the summer holidays with the aim of encouraging physical activity and communication for families with children under 8 years old.
We held five picnic events throughout July and August, with a different theme for each event:
- Space at Stockwood Park
- Farmyard at Wardown
- Animals at Wardown Arboretum
- Seaside at Limbury Field
- Princesses and Pirates at Stockwood
At each session we had a wide range of equipment and activities including storytelling, singing and rhyme time and football.
Attendance figures across the events were impressive – our best day was the Animal session at Wardown on 2nd August with 84 adults and 122 children turned up to enjoy the fun.
Overall, 161 different families attended in total, and 2 families managed to get along to all five sessions! I think we can confidently say that great fun was had by all!
“ I just wanted to give you some feedback about the wonderful session today. I think it was fabulous! You had activities to suit a wide age range and all of the staff were so friendly and engaged with the children and families.
With so many cut backs, it’s great that this can still be offered free of charge.
My grandson and I really had a lovely time and he said ‘I enjoyed that fun Nannie’. What more could we ask for!”
