Talking Takes Off is a new initiative aimed at improving speech and communication in children from 0-5 years old in Luton.

Speech and language provide the solid foundations on which to build the best start in life.

They lead to vital skills which will guide children on a life long journey of socialising, learning and progress as well as helping them to achieve their full potential and wellbeing.

Talking Takes Off is offering practical support to parents, carers to spread the word about the importance of language development by offering a range of tools, resources and workshops.

We are also training volunteers and partners and raising awareness about early language development.

Our aim is to make sure that the importance of communication is a conversation everyone is having.

Talking Takes Off Drop in with a Speech and Language Therapist

Although we aren’t running our face-to-face sessions at the moment, our speech and language therapist, Emily, is still able to talk to you about your child’s talking and listening skills over the phone if you have concerns.

The service is suitable for children who are not already known to the Speech and Language Therapy Service and for those with early concerns about their child’s talking.

An opportunity to have your work celebrated in print!

We are making a collection of children’s work to represent their feelings about being in  Luton and their dreams for the future.

There are two themes;

¨ Places I know

¨ Things I dream of doing again

We would like you to send us your pictures, poems, rhymes, drawings, comic strips to tell us about the places you know and enjoy visiting in Luton, or things you are dreaming of doing again
