Keeping Active
Did you know that children under 5 should be getting at least 3 hours of physical activity across the day? Physical activity is important for young children as it helps:
- Physical and cognitive development– brain development and learning, muscle and bone development and development of fine and gross motor skills (big and small physical movements) and coordination.
- Keep them healthy: including a healthy weight and reduced risk of diabetes and other diseases later in life.
- Build relationship and social skills
- Improve sleep and mental wellbeing
Every movement counts, see ways to get your children active here: Physical activity for early years- birth to 5 years
